National Headquarters News Update!

NHQ News editorial content is now available online.

This is one of the cost saving measures implemented by National TCA. Check out the TCA website for more details through our links page.
What is TCA?  What is the Heart of America Chapter of TCA?
The Train Collectors Association (TCA) was founded in 1954 in Yardley, Pennsylvania. The mission of the TCA is "to preserve an important segment of history - tinplate trains- through research, establishment of collecting standards, education, community outreach, fellowship, and to promote the growth and enjoyment of the hobby." The TCA embraces all aspects of the toy and model train collecting and operating hobby. The TCA "Kids Club" program encourages the development of new generations of collectors. The TCA Headquarters Office and Museum are located in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, adjacent to the Red Caboose Motel. TCA membership as of December 2008 was 29,325.

There are nineteen regional Divisions within the TCA. The Heart of America Chapter, based in Kansas City is part of the Ozark Division of TCA. Our Heart of America Chapter was formed in January of 2009 after several local TCA members decided that there should be an opportunity for train enthusiasts in the Kansas City area, Arkansas and Oklahoma to enjoy and share their train collecting enthusiasm with other collectors. The Chapter enjoys quarterly activities and attends several train meets in the Kansas City area throughout the year. There are more than 85 members in the Heart of America Chapter of TCA

Why join the Heart of America Chapter?
There is something for all to enjoy in the Heart of America Chapter of the TCA! Although collecting and operating our trains is certainly a joy in itself, the full measure of enjoyment is in meeting with people of similar interests. In our meetings and activities you will find people who "speak your language" and share in the pleasure of collecting and operating toy and model trains. You can find lifelong "train buddies" in our Chapter.

The Chapter has a committee that works to plan and deliver activities that will appeal to our membership-from the member who does not own a toy train to one who has an extensive layout. We plan to hold least four social activities each year - ranging from layout tours, educational sessions around layout building to just fun train related activities.

Members are eligible to attend our Chapter meetings, the York (Pennsylvania) Train Meets in April and October, other regional meets, and the TCA National Convention that occurs every summer. Special souvenir train cars and accessories are available to the members at these events. Members may visit the wonderful TCA National Museum in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, free of charge. Additionally, members may avail themselves of the various services offered through the National Office, including use of the Toy Train Research Library and special insurance for their trains. Finally, the national TCA offers many on-line services to members, including buy/sell/wanted ads, and the online "E-Train" magazine.
